The duo move to the Lake District and take over the ‘wonderful’ Victorian guesthouse

A Victorian guest house in Keswick is ready for a new lease of life after being sold. Woodside Guest House, based in the tourist hotspot, now has new owners after being sold for £675,000.

The property has five rental bedrooms, a breakfast room which can accommodate up to 12 people, private gardens, parking and a two-bedroom independent accommodation for the owners. The building, which was sold by the Colliers real estate company, was originally built in 1895.

Woodside Guest House has been operating as a bed and breakfast since 2015 under owners Jennifer and Nikos Karampatis. Now, after running the business successfully for seven years, the owners have made the decision to retire and relocate close to their family in Greece.

The period guest house was acquired by Hannah Richardson and BJ (Bart-Jan) Bekker, who both worked for charity. The couple have made the decision to move from Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire to Keswick and start this new chapter of life in the hospitality business and plan to open the doors again immediately.

Hannah said: “We have been looking forward to moving to Keswick to start our new business in Woodside. The stunning property has everything we hoped for and buying it has fulfilled one of our dreams! We are delighted to be taking over the successful business built by Jennifer and Nikos and to accommodate their regulars and many new guests.”

I’m really looking forward to seeing how the business develops in the hands of new owners Hannah and Bart-Jan and wish them all the best for their future.

“This sale is one of many guest houses that Colliers has sold over the past 12 months. This past year has been exceptionally busy, with over 21 hotel and guest house sales to date. Keswick is particularly a high demand area for buyers, and we are looking for similar properties to put on the market.
