Secaucus police charge 7 with prostitution at city motels

SECAUCUS, NJ – Secaucus police continue their crackdown on the prostitution business that frequently operates in city motels, as police arrested seven people last Tuesday, charging them with prostitution, money laundering and felonies drug related.

Secaucus police declined to say at which motels the arrests were made, saying only that they were “various” hotels throughout the city and that investigations are ongoing.

The Secaucus policemen worked undercover and posed as clients of the prostitutes.

“We specifically target prostitution because of the additional crime it brings to our hotels, such as drug trafficking, robbery and sexual assault,” Police Chief Dennis Miller said. “The day before this operation, a prostitute was robbed at knifepoint. The Secaucus Police Department will continue these efforts to ensure the safety of the transient community who stay at our hotels.”

The undercover operation was carried out by officers from the SPD’s anti-crime unit, detective division and patrol division.
