Nearly 1,000 families stuck in hostels and hotels last year as they waited for a home

Almost 1,000 families with children have been stuck in hostels and hotels in Northern Ireland over the past financial year pending permanent accommodation, it has been learned.

Aming figures from Stormont’s Department for Communities (DfC) also show that the number of people placed in temporary accommodation while on the housing waiting list has tripled in the last five years. The figure now stands at nearly 10,000.
