The new owners, Ben and Virginia Richardson, who moved to Dubwath to manage this charming boutique guesthouse, took over from the previous owner, Claire Shepherd, who bought the property in 2010.
Claire has now decided to retire from the hospitality industry to focus on other business interests.
Ben said: “After searching all over the Lake District for months, we had almost lost hope of finding our ideal home and business.
“Then we discovered Ouse Bridge and blown away the view.
“Although we have no hospitality experience Virginia has worked in events, we are eager for the challenge and have plans to make the guesthouse more sustainable while retaining its traditional feel.
“We are just 50 yards from the lake shore and a world of adventure as well as great access to Cockermouth and Keswick, and a pub on our doorstep as well.
“It really ticks all the boxes for us. Our kids now spend every afternoon by the lake, at the top of a waterfall or in a river, they explore and have fun away from the hectic life of the city we come from, their school is amazing and they are as happy as we’ve ever seen them.
“It’s a great movement for the whole family.”
Haydn Spedding of the Colliers Hotels team said: “Ouse Bridge Guest House is a very important and attractive property and easily caught the attention of Ben and Virginia as they have friends in the area.
“Such was their confidence in the quality of the business, they negotiated a purchase while we were still in the COVID lockdown and their purchase was supported by Cumberland Building Society.
“Ouse Bridge Guest House is one of more than 20 hotels and guesthouses sold by Colliers in the past 12 months and continues to exemplify confidence in the Lake District and Cumbria.”
