Hostels are definitely not for everyone. It is therefore essential to inquire before booking a stay. Two of the most popular sites for finding hostels are Hostelworld.com and Booking.com. Most importantly, be sure to read reviews carefully before booking a hostel. This is the best way to assess if the hostel is right for you.

Although “hostels” have sprung up in recent years, you need to make sure that the one you choose has the amenities you are looking for. Do you plan to cook meals? If so, go for a hostel with a full kitchen. Need a place where you can swim? Be sure to choose a hostel with a swimming pool. These things are important to ensure your comfort during your stay.

If you don’t want to share a space with travelers of the opposite sex, be sure to find a hostel that has single-sex dorms. Not all hostels offer this option, so it is important to ask in advance.

Remember that when you stay in hostels almost everyone will be a foreigner. It is important that you secure your belongings. Most hostels have lockers, so be sure to bring a padlock to protect your belongings. Another rule of thumb is to never leave your phone charging unattended to prevent theft. Since you will be sleeping with other people, you can also pack earplugs and an eye mask.
