After about three months of closure, the hotels, motels and cottages of Cox’s Bazar will partially reopen from tomorrow while maintaining the sanitary instructions.

But tourist sites on the sea beach will remain closed, reports our local correspondent.

The decision was taken at a local administration meeting on June 20. During the meeting, Helal Uddin Ahmed, principal secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, ordered to resume to 50% the operating capacity of hotels, motels and cottages. .

Business establishments were declared closed indefinitely on April 1 following the second wave of coronavirus. Travel by people to tourist sites has also been restricted.

A committee headed by the Cox’s Bazar Additional District Magistrate has been formed to verify whether commercial establishments are following government-issued health guidelines to combat Covid-19 infection.

On the other hand, the owners, employees and various organizations linked to the sea beach points trade have called for the spots to be reopened.
